John's first time at Hogwarts

Flashback.

“All first years in here.” called Professor Plinker. John and the rest of the first years filed in to the smallish room, knowing that soon they would all be sorted into their respectable houses. John was hoping that he would be placed in Hufflepuff or Ravenclaw, but here my friends is where I tell you he didn’t wind up in either; you see the young boy was and still is quite ambitious. This one character trait out of his many may have caused him to be placed in Slytherin, the least likely of places for someone like John. Well maybe I should tell you more about this John person before I go in to saying things like that. John is the oldest child of Guillaume (William) and Ginny Moore. John is a fourth Veela, and speaks three languages French, English, and Scottish. The odd thing about John is that magical children, who attend Hogwarts the same school as their parents, usually wind up in one of their parents old houses.  But not John, his dad was a Hufflepuff and his mom a Gryffindor, so as to why John is a Slytherin only the sorting hat really knows but you and I might be able to come close to knowing.  John is one of only a handful of Veela or part Veela children in the Slytherin house and no one really knows why they’re there to begin with, maybe it’s because the sorting hat is old and can’t place the children as well as it once could or maybe because the sorting has gotten wiser over the years and knows more then it lets on to. Whatever the case maybe John is a Slytherin and an odd one at that, but it’s time now look at where he is during this flash back. He along with the other first years are walking up the aisle toward the far end of the Great Hall, where John will find out he is a Slytherin. Professor Plinker started calling out names that John didn’t really pay any attention to and then he heard it, his own name, never had John been so scared to hear his own name before. Slowly but surely he walks towards Professor Plinker and the sorting hat where he’ll know in which house he’ll be placed in, still chanting and hoping to be placed in Hufflepuff or Ravenclaw. Upon sitting down to the stool the hat is placed on his head but the hat hasn’t said anything or moved this is quite odd, for the hat usually bursts into life the moment it’s placed on someone’s head. Professor Plinker tries to pick the hat up, and I say tries because as the Professor reaches for the hat it yells “don’t touch me you fool. This boy has every desire to be placed in to Hufflepuff or Ravenclaw both for noble reasoning, BUT it is Slytherin as to where, I think he belongs.” Then the hat goes quiet once more. As John walks away he is sure the hat has miss placed him but can’t bring himself to tell everyone else just how wrong the hat must be. And so our tale of John so-wrongly-placed Moore begins now as we find our present day fourth year Slytherin John AndrĂ© Moore still as sure as ever that the sorting hat was wrong, sitting where he sat when he walked over to the Slytherin table for the first time.
